UNCA D recently got a letter dated "Thursday Morning" from Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), finance chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
"Dear Friend," it began:
I'm told by people I trust that you're among the most dedicated and knowledgeable Republican leaders in the Kingwood area.
Dear Congressman Hensarling: You shouldn't trust the people you trust.
I'm a Democrat. Always have been; always will be. I vote in the Democratic primary at Precinct 590, then return -- most times -- for the precinct conventions.
What could be more fun than being a lone conservative, a majority of one, in a thundering herd of libs?
(Well, maybe it's not exactly a "thundering herd" here in Kingwood. Perhaps it more like a 1968 meeting of earnest Young Democrats in a college dorm room. But you get the idea.)
When it comes time to vote in the general election, however . . .
Well, at the risk of piercing the veil of secrecy around the ballot box, I always place the future of our nation higher than the future of the Democratic Party.
Next time, for instance, I will vote for whichever general election candidates think the graph below represents (a) reality and (b) really, really bad public policy.
Even if it's a Democrat.
UPDATE: Thanks for the link from blogHouston.
