IT'S TIME for Unca D to shut down, and so . . .
. . . he shall.
I don't have time to do blogging well. And even if I did, the subjects that interest me are covered better by others (see my blogroll) or, in the case of the shortcomings of Chronicle editorial policy, of little public interest.
Items that have already been posted for future publication will continue for a few days. In addition, I'll do a wrap-up post at some point. Finally, when I feel like it -- which will be sporadically -- I'll still do the occasional post about faith, family, photography, or whatever else is on my mind at the time.
With the deepest appreciation for your readership and (in many cases) friendship,
Unca Darrell
UPDATE: Thanks for the link (and kind words) from the indispensable blogHouston.
Its OK if you don't blog; just don't start to Tweet!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh =(
I hope you do continue to post, maybe not as frequently, but whenever the muse inspires! And I hope you don't delete the site -- it's fun to go back and reread posts. =)

Your leaving is the end of one of the best blogs in Houston.
If you still decide to show up at a blogmeet your first glass of juice is on me.

Darrell, I'm very sorry to hear that you are closing up shop. You have a real way with words and you will be sorely missed. I do hope you take a hiatus and rethink the decision, but I wish you well either way. It's been a good run.

It's been an interesting, informative ride. Thank you. I wish more folks had visited and commented.
I'll check back periodically for the photos and family news.

Bummer and big mistake. Just because Oscar Peterson is my favorite jazz pianist doesn't mean that I don't enjoy and appreciate Dave Brubeck, George Shearing, or Jimmy Smith. When you take your riffs away, even if it is an occassional 8 or 16 bars rather than an entire symphony, the music of the blog-o-sphere won't be as enjoyable. I'm disappointed.
