IN CASE YOU didn't notice, both headlines for today's editorials are allusions. The first, "Up in Smoke," refers . . .
. . . inappropriately, given the gravity of the subject of the editorial -- to a 1978 Cheech and Chong doper movie (is there any other kind?) of the same name.
The second, a subhead actually (and only in the print edition), is "Remembrance of things pesto," a play on the English-language title of Marcel Proust's seven-volume semi-autobiographical novel, Remembrance of Things Past.
None of this is terribly important, but it earns a chuckle.
