JANUARY 29 / And the wedding photographer was only 13

 

JOHN AIKEN and Betty Hancock were married on January 2, 1960. Earlier this month they celebrated their fiftieth anniversary.

From a flyer distributed at the celebration of their anniversary:

On January 2, 1960, John William Aiken and Betty Lou Hancock were married in the home of Roby and Virginia Lee in Garrison, Texas. The Rev. Lloyd Bowden officiated, and Charles and Judy Yarborough were best man and maid of honor. Frances Payne played the piano, and Darrell Hancock served as photographer.  

John and Betty keep God first in their lives. Their watchword is "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." (Proverbs 16:3) This commitment gave them the strength when their beloved children, John David and Angela, were born and supported them in sorrow when they lost John David in a fatal car accident in 1981.
