I'LL SAVE YOU the trouble of clicking through to "Opinion": The Chronicle regurgitated its familiar DeLay-is-a-sleazeball argument.
So be it. Sadly, that's not the issue at the moment. The issue is . . .
. . . that after almost ten years, the Travis County D.A.'s prosecution -- spelled persecution -- of Tom DeLay has collapsed. The case was, from the beginning, without legal merit. The Chronicle needs to opine on the ethical and constitutional implications of driving elected officials from office with bogus criminal charges.
The Chronicle also needs to opine on the constitutional implications of having a president wave a magic wand and enact what amounts to legislation.
In both cases, the Chronicle elevates its hard-left politics and hard-left policy preferences above mere legal and constitutional niceties.
Rule of law? LOL!
Mr. DeLay was a sleazeball, it seems, and sleazeballs deserve to be prosecuted for almost a decade on meritless charges. Serves him right. Because, sleazeball.
