. . . of Donald Trump, bar none, is coming from . . .
. . . Houston radio talk host Michael Berry.
Ticking off all the reasons -- the fraudulent Trump "university," the unprincipled overnight shifts in positions (fund Planned Parenthood, defund Planned Parenthood), the lies about releasing his federal income tax returns, the abuse of eminent domain, the political contributions to Clinton, Reid, and Pelosi, and on and on -- Mr. Berry tells his listeners "He's a con man."
Mr. Berry openly disdains -- his word -- loyal listeners who support Mr. Trump. He puts them at the head of his call-in queue, lets them have their say, then rips then and their arguments up, down, and sideways.
"Y'all do understand, do you not, that we are picking a president of the United States?" he asks. "This is not a reality show."
"You know, don't make fun of the Obama voters," Mr. Berry says, "because it turns out we've got them on our side. We've got them on our side too. . . . Worship that man! Worship that man!"
In his moral and intellectual clarity on Trumpism, and courage, Mr. Berry brilliantly outshines all other conservative radio yakkers today.
This list includes, sadly, Rush Limbaugh, who talks endlessly about Mr. Trump but never arrives at a conclusion.
Do you have Trump-besotted friends who need an intervention? Send them Mr. Berry's way.
It's unlikely to help, but maybe one day they will look back and credit the one person who tried to rescue them from the cult.
