. . . America elected Donald John Trump as its next president.
I DIDN'T THINK he was fit to be president of the United States. He lacked the requisite character, intelligence, knowledge, experience, and judgment.
Having said that, I voted for him. Why? Because . . .
. . . Hilary Diane Rodham Clinton was even less fit to be president of the United States. She might beat him on knowledge and experience (though both propositions are debatable), but her character, intelligence, and judgment were (and are) worse than his.
If the same election presented itself again today---same candidates but with the benefit of hindsight---I'd vote for him again.
He is still unfit to be president, compared not only to our ideals of a president but to our minimum standards. But he's still more fit than Mrs. Clinton.
And, let's be honest, he's done a lot of good things, starting with the nomination of judges who, by all accounts, believe in the Constitution and the rule of law. What a concept! Then there's deregulation, support for tax reform, and more.
I could run an inventory of other good outcomes, but you either know them already or don't care.
His greatest accomplishment: He scores 100 percent on not being her. Each day he wakes up and keeps her out of the Oval Office one more day. That's not nothing. As a consequence, the nation and the world are better off.
